Notes on the geometric Satake equivalence

These notes are devoted to a detailed exposition of the proof of the Geometric Satake Equivalence in the case the coefficients are a field of characteristic 0, following Mirkovic-Vilonen. We follow their arguments closely, adding only a few details where this might be useful.
